We are thrilled to present to you this edition of The Cornerstone Connection from Rosenberg Lodge No. 881!
Past Master David C. Berndt
Brethren,
As we reach the month of June, we arrive at the natural conclusion of this Masonic Year. It is a time of transition, reflection, and immense gratitude. First and foremost, I want to express my thanks to each and every one of you for granting me the distinct honor and privilege of serving as your Worshipful Master this past year. Serving you and our Lodge has been an honor.
Our goal when we set out last summer was simple yet vital: to work faithfully, support one another, and ensure we moved our Lodge forward. I am incredibly proud to say that, thanks to your hard work, dedication, and support, we have done exactly that. Together, we have truly left the wood pile higher than we found it for the line of officers coming in next year.
A perfect example of our collective labor came on May 19, 2026, when we hosted our annual Community Awards Night. It was a phenomenal success and a beautiful evening of fellowship. We had the privilege of honoring several outstanding individuals from our area, presenting scholarships, the Community Builder Award, Teacher Honoraria, and Honesty and Integrity Awards.
Moments like these remind us all of the vital role our Lodge plays as a beacon of light in the Rosenberg community. If you were unable to attend or simply want to revisit a wonderful evening, the full presentation was recorded and is available to watch on YouTube below. Please take a few minutes to watch it and share in the pride of what our Lodge accomplishes when we work together.
As the gavel prepares to pass to the next Worshipful Master, I ask that you afford the incoming officers the same remarkable support and brotherly love that you have shown me. The future of Rosenberg Lodge is bright, and I look forward to continuing to work with you all to continue to grow our Lodge.
Thank you again, Brethren, for an unforgettable year.
Past Master Carter R. Sharbrough
Thank, for the memories!
Should tradition prevail, I will exchange my Rosenberg Lodge No. 881 Secretary’s jewel for that of the Junior Deacon during our 2026-2027 Masonic Year. While it has been my high honor to serve as your secretary for the past 3 years, I am excited about the pending change of office.
Junior Deacon. JD was the office to which I aspired 3 years ago when then Senior Warden Kenny Meyer asked me to take the baton from retiring 9-term Secretary Phillip Wigginton PM. Brother Wigginton has been an inexhaustible source of knowledge and assistance during my time as Secretary.
The Masters. Worshipful Masters Kenny Meyer (2023-2024), Raul Rubalcaba (2024-2025) and David Berndt (2025-2026) have been a joy to serve. Under their leadership, our lodge has gotten stronger each year. I expect that trend to continue for the foreseeable future.
Succession. My expected successor is a Brother with whom I have worked closely on Rosenberg Lodge business over the past 12 months. I am convinced that the lodge will not miss a beat under his service. In fact, I expect him to exceed my service as secretary in every way.
As I leave the secretary’s chair, I consider myself blessed to have served our great lodge as such. It was also a personal treat for me to briefly join Secretaries David Berndt of Sugar Land #1141 and RW Cody Cockroft of Morton Lodge #72 as a member of an exclusive 3-man fraternity – that of Fort Bend County lodge secretaries.
What a pleasant thought it is to know that my name will be added to this list of Masons who have served Rosenberg Lodge No. 881 as Secretary during the past 65 years!
Thanks for the memories.
